Treat Your Sweetheart to the Ultimate Sweetwater Valentine Shopping & Dining Experience

Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, and it’s high time to nail down those sweet Valentine’s Day plans. Odds are you’re beset on all sides by so many options promising to make your own sweetheart’s day one he or she will never forget. But one date night option stands out from all the others this year, and we are thrilled to announce the Sweetwater Flower Shop and Upstairs at the Mansion joint Romantic Valentine’s Dinner event!

If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting the Sweetwater Flower Shop, allow us to set the scene. Located in historic downtown Sweetwater, this flower shop has a well-earned reputation for quality and exceptional customer service not spanning just a few years, or even a few decades, but a whole century. Thriving over time by expanding customer offerings and services, this shop, which was initially known for its fresh cut flowers and arrangements in the 1920s, now also provides a constantly growing selection of beautiful boutique gifts, silk florals, women’s apparel and accessories, seasonal items, designer-inspired jewelry, art, and now, even the Upstairs at the Mansion Restaurant. In addition, the Shop also offers seasonal decorating, custom graveside pieces, and custom interior and exterior silks.

While well-known as a destination for shopping aficionados throughout East Tennessee and beyond, what is often best remembered by visitors is Sweetwater Flower Shop’s own brand of southern hospitality where customers become friends immediately upon entering the Shop. And though having experienced a changing of the guard with Sweetwater Flower Shop’s previous owner of well over fifty years Jack Wilson passing the torch to new owners, wife and husband team, Casey and Derek Camp, that brand is stronger than ever.

And with the Upstairs at the Mansion Restaurant having opened January 31st on the second story of the Sweetwater Flower Shop, customers can expect a brand-new chapter of excitement to unfold this month that you just can’t miss. After all, Upstairs at the Mansion Restaurant owners dynamic husband and wife duo Shawn and Adrianne have both come from rich backgrounds in the food service industry. Adrianne’s great grandmother started a drive-in BBQ joint long ago in Jonesboro Georgia, and Adrianne’s first job was at Boruff’s Drive-In in downtown Sweetwater. Discovering a love and passion in her work, she consistently found herself coming back again and again to the restaurant industry. Shawn’s history is no less devoted to promoting quality food and customer service, as years ago he worked at Carrabba’s Restaurant, before transitioning to fast food management, and finally to a job as kitchen manager at Countryside Restaurant in Vonore, where he put years of honing recipes to the test and created many successful specials.

“It has always been our dream to open a restaurant of our own. When our first option fell through, we trusted God to lead us to the right place. After we started chatting with Casey and Derek, everything just fell into place, and we knew our prayers had been answered,” shared Adrianne. And they have now hit the ground running at Upstairs at the Mansion.

Located on the shop’s second level, Upstairs at the Mansion features an upscale antebellum décor complete with raised ceilings, crystal chandelier lighting, rich, decorative wood molding, and exquisite table linens and place settings. The perfect oasis from shopping, Upstairs at the Mansion offers busy shoppers to Sweetwater’s iconic historic downtown retail district the perfect venue to pause with friends and family. Following their soft opening on January 31st, restaurant hours currently run 11:00AM – 4:00PM Monday to Friday, with other times available for private events. Once the weather improves, Shawn and Adrianne plan to expand to also provide Saturday and Sunday brunch, and, once summer arrives, aim to open some evenings as private parties allow.

Using the best ingredients possible, including farm to table and seasonal items, Upstairs at the Mansion offers a limited regular menu including a Chef Salad, Club Sandwich, Grilled Chicken and Grilled Shrimp, and focuses on their daily specials and panini.

With introductions taken care of, it’s time to delve into the details of your ideal Romantic Valentine’s Dinner!

As an added bonus, guests will experience the music of live pianist and Sweetwater favorite, Dr. Hugh McCampbell. Dr. McCampbell comes from a long line of farmers and musicians. Growing up on a dairy farm, he also raised pigs and steers for 4H. He broke his first horse at age 7 and has been around them ever since.  His Mother was a church organist and pianist, and his Daddy could really sing.  Hugh and his brothers started in grammar school bands and branched out to all kinds of music from there. In college, he decided to add to what few piano lessons he had and was determined to learn to play the piano better. It was logical for him to become a large animal Veterinarian, and hence a Veterinar Pianist – quite the unique combination! His 14th Annual Benefit Verterinar Piano Concert is Saturday, March 19th at Sweetwater Elementary School Auditorium. Dr. McCampbell’s skill at the piano will be the perfect finishing touch to your Valentine’s dinner.
