East TN Mountain ViewsDr. Perry C. McCallen grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. He earned a BA in Political Science from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, received his Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC, and received his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. His doctoral project is titled Communicating the Gospel to Generation X in a Traditional Church. He attended the University of Edinburgh in Scotland to study church growth in conjunction with Columbia Theological Seminary.

Prior to assuming his responsibilities as Senior Minister at Second Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga in 2003, he served as Associate Pastor at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, FL, Director of Youth Ministry at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN, and Director of Youth Ministry at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.

Dr. McCallen has extensive experience as a senior pastor, and his doctoral work focuses on church growth involving young families. He has also served as a consultant for church marketing throughout the Presbyterian churches of East Tennessee.

Perry has written a daily devotional book titled, HOPE: Daily Encouragement from God. The book will soon be available on Amazon and Kindle.

Perry has been married to his wife, Erin, since 1990. They have two teenage daughters (Katherine Ann and Mary) and a young teenage boy (Perry).

The McCallen family is delighted to move closer to family members. Eldest daughter, Katherine, attends the University of Tennessee. Perry’s parents, Jo Ann and Perry McCallen, M.D., divide their time between homes in Knoxville and Tellico Village. His sister, Cindy Cassity, and her family also live in Knoxville.

Along with spending time creating memories with his family, Perry enjoys bass fishing on Tellico Lake with his father and son.

Perry looks forward to representing CCTV through his involvement in various organizations in the Tellico Village community. He is particularly looking forward to getting to know each member of the CCTV church family.

Perry is a big sports fan.

“I grew up with a father who ‘bleeds orange,'” he said.  “He began taking me to games in Knoxville when I was eight years old. It was inevitable that I would become a big college football (and basketball) fan. I am very much aware that Tellico Village includes fans from all across the country. Therefore, I will very much enjoy the friendly verbal jousting that is sure to take place during football and basketball season.”

Perry embraces the interdenominational church model of CCTV.

“What could be more beautifully in keeping with the ideal biblical church than the interdenominational church?” he said. “The Christian Church should always celebrate that which unites us in Jesus Christ. I relish the statement that CCTV is as inclusive as the love of God.”

Anticipating his future ministry at CCTV, Perry states: “I am so very impressed by the many accomplishments of this church. I also dream about the possibilities God has for this church family as His hand of providence moves us into an even brighter future!”

Dr. McCallen begins his ministry at the community church on June 1.
