The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

One of the most frequently asked questions our staff gets during this time of the year is “why are you all so busy?” Well, let’s try to answer that and decide if there is anything we can do about it.
First of all, the holiday season oftentimes will present us with the challenges of traveling. Some clients will decide to get their service before they go out of town to visit family or before family comes to visit them. This will affect the salon, because many of the patrons scheduled for the last week of November or the first week of January find themselves with a salon visit during the month of December.
Secondly, many of our clients have special events during the season such as a Christmas party or a church musical that may require special needs in the hair or nail department. This will affect the salon, because they generate additional appointments that may not normally be scheduled.
Lastly, there is the demand placed on the salon by “visitors.” These visitors range from people who once lived in the area and are visiting family or may be home from college for one of their two or three visits to the salon each year. Either way, they affect the salon because of the additional demands for time slots of your most likely already busy salon.
About the only way to make sure you are not personally affected by the busy month of December is to make your appointments well in advance. Also, try not to be discouraged if you have failed to make your appointment early. We already have several staff members who have waiting lists for clients who were having difficultly scheduling their appointments. The patrons on the waiting list are often “worked in” when there is a cancellation or even when someone can’t make their appointment at the last minute. Not to mention that many of our stylists and nail technicians will work extra days during the month of December to try their best to make sure each and every client is accommodated.
Hopefully this will help you understand why most every salon is a little more crowded and why you may have to park a little farther away from the door during this time of year. Next year try to remember and schedule early, and you should be able to avoid any interruptions or inconveniences with your normal services.
From all of us here at The Village Salon, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season.
