37 Postcards is a comedy written by Michael McKeever and directed by Len Willis that will open at the Patricia Smith Theatre in the Tellico Community Playhouse on February 18. This production will have seven performances, February 18-20 and 25-28. All of the shows start at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the Sunday, February 28, matinee that begins at 1:30 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to start of the performance. The sponsor for this play is Grinderz Grille and the producer is Julie Sheffer.
In this story, after years of travelling abroad, Avery Sutton is happy to return to the comfort of his parents’ well-to-do home in Connecticut. Unfortunately, almost nothing is as he remembered it. The entire house is tilted at a distinct angle, the dog hasn’t been fed for five years, Avery’s aunt is running a profitable phone-sex operation out of the kitchen, and Avery’s grandmother, whom everyone thought was dead, is alive and kicking. Forced to accept the oddities of his family or leave them behind, 37 Postcards suggests that you can, in fact, go home again… yu just never know what you’re going to find.
An excellent cast has been selected to portray the many different “wonky” characters that make up this production. This cast includes Ku Adams (Evelyn Sutton), Kain Shaw (Avery Sutton), Janice Carrison (Aunt Ester), Cindy Archer (Gillian Moore), Doug Bannister (Stanford P. Sutton), Doris Ryan (Nana), and Cuego (the dog Skipper).
