Foothills Community Players Presents Musical Comedy “Nunsense”
Saturday, May 4th, 2013 | Uncategorized | No Comments
A show for the whole family, presented for one weekend only
The Foothills Community Players will present the musical comedy “Nunsense” at the Clayton Center for the Arts for five performances May 9-12.
Dubbed “a lively ‘nun-stop’ musical” by the New York Times, “Nunsense” concerns the comic misadventures of five nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Sister Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – who try valiantly and with much hilarity to stage a talent show to raise some emergency funds for their convent.
The popular show by Dan Goggin stands as the second longest-running Off-Broadway show in history, was adapted for television starring Rue McClanahan, and has spawned six sequels and three spin-offs.
Evening performances are Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, at 6 p.m. Matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, are at 2 p.m. The Clayton Center for the Arts is located at 502 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy in Maryville.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students with college ID. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are $12. Tickets are available at the Clayton Center box office at (865) 981-8590 or for purchase online at www.claytonartscenter.com for an additional service fee.
The Foothills Community Players’ season will continue with the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” in August.
