Local Plumber Lives and Works by the Golden Rule

“Uh oh! We’ve got a plumbing problem! Scary words, to be sure. Who are we going to call that will return our call, come out, and do a good job? As contractors get busier and busier, it is getting harder and harder to find experienced people that show up on time and do the job well. Many plumbing problems require that the job be done really quickly!
Recently, East Tennessee’s Mountain Views had the opportunity to interview Chris Flores, the owner of Tactical Plumbing, Inc. Launched in 2015, Tactical Plumbing is focused on doing a great job and treating their customers right. We are excited to bring you that interview with Chris Flores.
MV: Tell our readers a little bit about yourself and why you started your plumbing business.
Chris: I started Tactical Plumbing to provide quality, affordable plumbing repair services to the local community. I worked for many companies in the past that put quantity over quality. At Tactical Plumbing we like to do the exact opposite – quality over quantity.
I have been in the plumbing industry since 2003. In 2011, I opened my first business, named Golden Rule Handyman Services, LLC, where we lived by the rule, “Treat others the way you want to be treated”. In 2015, I passed my plumbing exam and acquired my Florida Registered Plumbing License. I then changed the name of Golden Rule Handyman Services to Tactical Plumbing where we were still very focused on “The Golden Rule”. In 2021, I obtained my Florida Certified Plumbing License (the highest-level plumbing license in Florida). In addition, in March of 2022 I obtained my Tennessee LLP plumbing license.
MV: What led you to move to Tennessee from Florida?
Chris: My family and I left Florida and moved to Tennessee to follow God’s call for us to go into a ministry here. We are still searching for that ministry, but Tactical Plumbing will continue to serve the local community in Eastern Tennessee.
MV: It sounds like missions and community service work are important to you.
Chris: Missions work and helping people are very important to me. One of the main reasons I started Tactical Plumbing when I was in Florida was to help fund missions work. I also worked with Home Depot to benefit veterans in Jacksonville.
MV: What are some of the most common plumbing jobs that you do?
Chris: Our most common jobs involve drain cleaning, water heaters, fixture repair and replacement, water softeners, and bathroom and kitchen remodels.
MV: What makes you different than other plumbers our readers might use?
Chris: At Tactical Plumbing we don’t build clientele, we build relationships. We treat our customers like family. We want to make sure they feel respected and cared for. A lot of companies care more about how much money they make from customers and forget to take care of them and give great customer service. These companies also never get called back. I’d like to believe we do a good job at building relationships that will have customers calling us back.
MV: Speaking of calling back, businesses are so busy today that customers may not get called back when they ask for an estimate or they don’t know when things are going to be done due to a lack of communication. How do you deal with those concerns?
Chris: At Tactical Plumbing. we make it a point to promptly call, email, or text all customers back. We use a software that allows our customers to receive notifications when jobs are scheduled, started, or finished. We want customers to be informed of all phases of the job from estimate to completion.
MV: How would you describe your business philosophy?
Chris: At Tactical Plumbing we build relationships, not just clientele. We do this with a Christ-centered approach while serving our customers with integrity and honesty. Serving you is our Ministry!
MV: Anything else you would like to add?
Chris: Yes. It’s important to note that, while in Florida, we earned great customer ratings on Facebook, Google, Angi.com, Home Advisor, and Yelp, etc. We love our customers!
So, if you have plumbing needs arise and are looking for a company that strives to go above and beyond the normal service, contact Chris at Tactical Plumbing, Inc. and see his brand of extra service for yourself.
