Back Home in Tennessee

We are really excited to be back home. East Tennessee is where I was born and raised and where my wife, Heather, and I have committed to raise our school-aged children. It’s where I want to practice medicine. Actually, it’s where we want to practice medicine. Having met in medical school, Heather, in addition to being referred to as mom, is also Heather Hutchings, D.O., who provides care at the Tennova Turkey Creek Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center.
Throughout the years, I have treated all kinds of conditions in people of all ages. Diseases are interesting, but it’s the relationships with people that make me want to do this year after year. My passion for rural medicine is rooted in the people I serve. As a physician, my first duty is to spend sufficient time with my patient, so I can listen to their concerns and establish a rapport with them. I feel that it is crucial, when it comes to patient care. My approach is to educate people about their disease and treat the cause, rather than just treat the symptoms. I always have quality of life at the main front of my treatment approach.
While my family practice will be in Lenoir City, Dr. Heather Hutchings’s focus will be primarily directed toward providing wound care at Tennova Turkey Creek Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center. This is an area of medicine where technology is rapidly evolving and where people have seen benefits, particularly those suffering from diabetes.
In addition to our commitments to the health of our community, I am also proud to continue in my role in the United States Army Medical Corps. It is an honor to serve our nation’s men and women in uniform, and I look forward to my continued service in the future.
Both Heather and I look forward to serving our community and to the many new friendships we will make in the future.
