Attracting many of Knoxville’s most successful entrepreneurs and business owners, the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation (ETKF) launched its first Working Lunch Speaker Series on May 17th at Cherokee Country Club. With more than 75 guests in attendance and more than $3,000 raised for local dialysis patients, the event was deemed a huge success by all in attendance.
“We at ETKF wish to express our gratitude to our local community for making this first Working Lunch Speaker Series such a great success,” said Katie Caldwell, Executive Director of East Tennessee Kidney Foundation. “Our goal with the new Working Lunch Speaker Series is to provide a unique and educational venue for the business and medical professionals in our community, while raising awareness of East Tennesseans suffering from chronic kidney disease. A special thanks goes out to all our guests; WATE-6’s news personality and guest moderator, Lori Tucker; and Ted Russell, Cynthia Moxley, Judy Irmen, and Tom Irmen, our inspirational guest speakers.”
Bridet Mounger, Mortgage Loan Originator with Regions Bank, had this to say about ETKF’s Working Lunch. “After attending the Working Lunch benefiting the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation, I was inspired! It was amazing to hear the success stories and sometimes struggles of the business leaders in our community. Another great fact is that 100% of the proceeds from the luncheon will go to help people right here in our community. Thank you to our speakers and sponsors for such a wonderful event.”
“The speakers were all very insightful,” said Michelle Luna, founder and owner of Luna B. Tee. “My favorite part of the luncheon was when Tom Irmen, founder of Everything Knoxville magazine, said that when people told him he was “lucky,” he told them ‘the harder he worked, the luckier he got.'”
The successful event was also made possible by our gracious sponsors: Cherokee Country Club, Cedar Springs Christian Stores, BP/KenJo Markets, South Central Media, AAA, East Tennessee Plastic Surgery, and Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop, P.C.
Our next ETKF Working Lunch Speaker Series will feature Dr. Oscar Grandas, M.D., Surgical/Medical Director, Transplant Program at University of Tennessee Medical Center, on Thursday, August 9th, from 12 to 2 pm at Cherokee Country Club. Luncheon reservations can be made by visiting www.ETKidney.org. Space is limited, so please make your reservation early.
