This month, we had the opportunity to interview Tim St. Clair, the builder/owner at Lake Point Homes. Lake Point Homes has been building homes in Tellico Village and the surrounding areas for 18 years. They not only build quality new stock or true custom homes, but they have recently expanded into exterior and interior home remodeling and renovations.
MV: Tell us a little about yourself and Lake Point Homes.
Tim: Glad to! I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Construction Management and then spent several years working for other builders, learning construction from the ground up. I then started my own home building business in 1995. As a young man, I always had a passion for hands-on work, and a desire for independence. I really enjoy all aspects of construction work – from beginning to end. I’ve always taken pride in my work. Starting a home construction business gave me the opportunity to build a top-quality product and grow a professional business that gives me – and our customers – pride and satisfaction. I’ve built hundreds of single and multi-family homes in Pennsylvania and East Tennessee over the past 30 years. I pride myself on great communication, quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. My son, Zach, is a US Navy veteran attending college for civil engineering.
In my free time, I practice martial arts, currently holding the rank of 2nd degree blackbelt. My wife, Suzanna, and I live in West Knoxville and enjoy spending our weekends boating on Fort Loudon Lake and riding through the East Tennessee mountains on our Harley.
MV: Tell us a little about how you “do business” – or your business philosophy.
Tim: At Lake Point Homes, we believe that each home or project we take on is much more than simply pieces and parts crafted together. It is a physical result of our customers’ years of dreaming, planning and saving. That’s why Lake Point Homes is always striving for excellence and customer satisfaction in everything we do. I work directly with our customers through the entire remodeling project or the construction of a new custom-built home. No middlemen are ever involved! Lake Point Homes is a financially sound company. We have an excellent working relationship and are in good standing with the TN Builder’s Licensing Board, all area homeowners’ associations, and all area banks. What sets us apart from other builders, contractors and remodelers is our level of attention to detail from start to finish.
MV: Up until recently, Lake Point Homes was exclusively a home builder. What led you into expanding into renovations and remodeling?
Tim: Over the years, Lake Point Homes has received many requests to do home remodeling. Because of this increasing demand, we’ve decided to expand our building services to now include interior and exterior home remodeling. Home renovation projects that we handle include home additions, kitchens, bathrooms and ADA bathrooms, laundry rooms, finished basements, screen rooms, patios and decks, bonus rooms, sunrooms, new roofs, vinyl siding, Hardie siding upgrades, garage finishing and additions, soffit, fascia, gutters and downspouts, railings, exterior trim and exterior stonework, and the list goes on!

We are known for quality, professionalism, communication and superb customer satisfaction. Expanding our services makes good business sense and answers the needs of many local homeowners.
MV: You do have a reputation for quality built new homes. How do you maintain quality in your remodels?
Tim: We use the same quality standards and professional subcontractors for all our remodeling projects that we use in all our new custom home builds. Each phase of construction within a remodeling project is carefully planned, scheduled, and done by seasoned experts who are highly skilled in their trades. We personally supervise each project on-site daily and communicate progress with our clients.
MV: Tell us about the rest of your team.
Tim: Absolutely. Eddy Palacios is our hands-on project manager with 15 years of construction experience. Eddy provides constant “on site” project supervision, makes sure the job sites are clean and well organized, and makes sure the construction materials are delivered to the job sites on time. Eddy is a great asset, ensuring that every job goes smoothly and gets completed on time. Eddy and his wife, Allie, enjoy free time on the lake with their 3 children.
Heather Doran is our office manager. Our office is conveniently located in the center of Tellico Village at 296-A Village Square Drive. When you stop by our office, you’ll be greeted by Heather, and she will answer any questions you might have and supply you with literature and construction specifications for any project you may have in mind. Heather can also arrange an appointment for you to meet with Tim so you can discuss your project and visit our models and existing construction. Heather is a wonderful asset to our company. She is always there with a big smile – ready to lend a helping hand. Heather and her husband, Josh, have 3 children and particularly enjoy their weekends at the lake.
