If you think that shopping for natural stone countertops and cabinets has become just one more generic experience, just wait until you meet the husband and wife team and owners of Superior Stone and Cabinets, Louwrens and Riana Mulder. These former South African natives have combined their unique talents to offer homeowners a new level of experience and creativity uncommon in the stone and cabinet marketplace.
Louwrens’ decades of experience goes back to his early career as an engineer involving heavy mining equipment and later as the owner of a granite quarry. Since first coming to the United States in 1997, Louwrens has been instrumental in introducing and importing African Range granite here in the United States. Riana, on the other hand, uses her global experience in the sales and marketing pharmaceuticals to aid in the messaging of the wide range of products and services offered by Superior.
You’ll experience just how unique Superior Stone and Cabinets is from your very first visit to their showroom located at 8865 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. In fact, it’s more of a discovery center, where you’ll discover creative uses of stone you will likely never have imagined or considered. Some of the stone products you’ll discover are products that have been manufactured on the very same machines Louwrens invented himself. You’ll see split faced granite and marble backsplashes, African Range granite, Bishop cabinetry, under and over cabinet lighting, and stone used in a variety of imaginative ways in outdoor living areas. You simply have to experience it for yourself.
But prepare for another experience – one where you’ll be transformed from a customer to a friend. Don’t be surprised if you’re asked to sample some rooibos tea made from the South African Red Bush and perhaps even some of Riana’s homemade rusks, which are a type of South African biscotti.
Family is important to the Mulders, as you’ll discover, as well as their delightful personalities and incredible sense of humor. They’ve never met a stranger, and they love to laugh. You’ll also discover that, in addition to working closely to Louwrens and Riana on your project, fabrication takes place at Stone World TN, a granite fabrication facility owned by their daughter and son-in-law, Hester and Duan Coqui. Hester is one of their kitchen designers along with Sanda Allyson. Also, their son, Jaco Mulder, provides their African Range granite from his quarries in Namibia.
You’ll also be pleased to discover that your individual project is so much more than just another project to Louwrens, Riana, and their family. You can be assured that your project will be much more than the generic experience that most homeowners experience today. Each project is unique and treated as if it were their very own.
Another key factor that differentiates Superior Stone and Cabinets from the competition is their special team approach, which combines a variety of disciplines, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. This team approach means your experience will be a total turn-key experience, with one source of responsibility. Will your new kitchen or bath require modification to a wall or electrical or plumbing to be relocated? How about the installation of over or under counter lighting? Now you’ll no longer have to involve multiple subcontractors. All work needed to complete your project will be provided by the team of experienced craftsmen at Superior.
If you’re building a new home or remodeling an existing one and would like your kitchen, baths, or even outdoor living areas – which will be designed professionally by Sherae Patterson, their landscape architect – to have the showcase quality look you’re wanting to achieve, then you owe it to yourself to visit the discovery center at Superior Stone and Cabinets.
