Welcoming family and friends into your home this season is a highlight for many of us. Getting your home ready to be an oasis of warmth and good cheer is probably at the top of your list of things to do this month. But before you get ahead of yourself and start retrieving those decorations from storage, your home may need some sprucing up. Decorating on a clean foundation is much more rewarding than covering up problems. As busy as this season can be, it’s a good idea to slow down and really analyze your home’s needs before adorning it with ornaments and knickknacks.
You may want to deep clean all of your hard surfaces, including countertops, tile, and grout in the kitchen and bathrooms and possibly sidewalks and outdoor living areas, too. If carpets haven’t been cleaned for a while, you may need a restoration cleaning instead of the traditional surface steam cleaning. Once your home looks and feels clean, you will be inspired to keep it looking that way. I think we all understand that when something feels right, it gives us incentive to keep it feeling great for a long time to come. A truly deep down clean home promotes positive interaction and just makes you feel good. Once you add your beautiful holiday décor, it’s sure to be a place that fosters the harmony and joy you desire.
